GREENPORT, NY — Purple and gold Porter pride will be in the air next month as the 2022 Greenport High School All-Class reunion brings graduates from near and far to share memories, laughter, and bonds that have spanned lifetimes.
The event takes place on July 16 at the 5th Street Park in Greenport from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
According to organizer TK Krumenacker, the free reunion is the fifth, "bringing Greenport School alumni together for one day filled with food, fun, music, fellowship, and of course, remembering our time together at GHS."
Classmates, he said, will share stories of past teachers/faculty, classmates, sports, proms, beach parties, Gull Pond, 67 Steps, music, and concerts.
"This Porter event is truly our own in the Village of Greenport," he said. "We lived those times together, we spent four years cherishing it, mostly as locals and a few transplants from away. This is it, folks, so let's plan on attending and showing your purple and gold Porter pride."
The event's planning committee is accepting monetary donations, as well as raffle gift items from the public and local businesses. The GHS All Class Corporation is 501c3 charitable organization. The GHS All Class Corporation Board is comprised of Annemarie Heaney-Chouinard, Rose Heaney-Baker, Mary Shelby, Robert Walden, and Krumenacker, Krumenacker said.
"We work year-round organizing, planning, and deciding what needs to be done. It truly is a gift of love and dedication to our cause, which is to provide our GHS alumni/faculty with an event that is celebrating our time through the years at Greenport School," Krumenacker said. "The hard work and dedication of the various committees and volunteers is another intricate mechanism of the success — and finally, the public and businesses that support and attend the GHS All Class Reunion are appreciated by all."
Volunteers are needed to help set up the park and help with tasks throughout the day, Krumenacker said. Committee chairpersons and volunteer spots will be posted soon. In addition, yard signs with a personalized message are available to purchase and will be placed on the inner perimeter of the park. Merchandise will be sold at the event.
